Itinerary
Day 0
Upon arrival in Whitehorse, you take the free shuttle to get to your hotel (right there when you exit the terminal). Note that we always try and book hotels which offers the free shuttle but in case there is no more availability, there are always taxis available to drive you downtown (count approximately $25 for a ride from the airport to your hotel). Depending on your arrival time, you will have time to explore Whitehorse and take a stroll on the Millennium Trail or check out the MacBride Museum.
A pre-trip meeting takes place in the lobby of your hotel at 5pm today with your guides. This is the perfect opportunity to ask any last-minute questions about your hiking trip, do a gear check and meet your fellow adventurers!

Day 1
Leaving Whitehorse behind, we travel north along the legendary Dempster Highway. The road winds through boreal forest and rolling tundra hills before the striking mountains of Tombstone appear on the horizon. Once at the campground, we set up camp and, if time allows, head out for a first short hike to get a taste of the landscapes that await us.

Day 2 to 4
For the next three days, we set out on a variety of day hikes, each offering a different perspective on the park. Some routes take us along ridgelines with panoramic views, others into valleys shaped by glaciers, where alpine flowers bloom in summer and wildlife often roams. With only a daypack, we can move comfortably through the terrain, stopping to enjoy the scenery, listen to the wind in the tundra, or watch for marmots and ground squirrels. Evenings bring us back to our base camp, where we share a meal and watch the changing light on the mountains that surround us.
Expect hikes between 8km to 10km return and elevation gain of at least 500m every day. The terrain is varied as you hike off trail most of the time.

Day 5
We enjoy one last morning hike in Tombstone before driving north toward Dawson City. The landscapes along the Dempster are a highlight in themselves, and by late afternoon we arrive in this historic town, once the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush. Tonight we trade our tents for a comfortable hotel and the unique atmosphere of Dawson.

Day 6
After breakfast, we begin the drive south along the Klondike Highway. It’s a chance to reflect on the days spent in the wilderness as the scenery shifts from tundra to forest. We arrive in Whitehorse by late afternoon and settle into our hotel for a final evening in the Yukon.
